Thank you all for your “keyboard input” ๐
I posted my preferred solution here: https://chadkohalyk.com/2020/09/01/writing-macrons-on-macos-and-ipados/

I am all Apple too, but I prefer to use a keyboard shortcut, rather than the press and hold, since I press and hold the DELETE key to delete a lot of text all the time.
What can I say? I make a lot of mistakes… ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐

This has been bothering me since I got an iPad Pro. Finally, a solution! I have both US and JIS keyboards and this makes it easy: just use Opt+A across every platform and keyboard!

Question for #Japan writers and academics: do you have a solution for typing macrons across platforms, specifically macOS and iPadOS using US and JIS hardware keyboards? I tried the Maori thing, and have been unsuccessful at single char text replacement. Help?

Spending the afternoon at the Iki cultural history museum. The facilities are 1st class! I love the prehistoric artefacts and very nice collection of tea ceremony items from the early Edo. Moreover, I appreciate how they introduce a variety non-material cultural artefacts.

Similar stories in Canada. Majority were born in Canada. Stripped of their homes they were shipped to labour camps and had to fend for themselves. Werenโt released until years AFTER the war. https://chadkohalyk.com/2017/04/28/timeline-of-japanese-in-the-okanagan/

Trying the latest Pepsi Mad Chemist Gambit: Sweet Cinnamon Pepsi
Basically it is Pepsi with a slight cinnamon flavour. Doesnโt even have the normal hard fizz of regular Pepsi. Like an off brand cola. Sticking with Lychee. That stuff is great!

Yeah if you not using the big platforms, and want a self branded presence, it seems like Stores is the one with the most mindshare, even tho Shopify is bigger. There seems to be a bit of โJapanese people prefer the checkout experience ofโฆโ kinda going around. HPB/DW, Mixi/FB?
