Just re-watched that film a little while ago. So emotional. Had me in tears in like the first 3 mins. Such a great looking film too. Really hope Denis can work the same magic for Dune 🙏
Anyways, listening to this mix now.

RT @Matt_Alt: @chadkoh Inevitably some non-American examples were culled in editing because they covered similar ground. One I really hated…

I tend to pronounce things with a Japanese flavour, but as it has been already established, I am a pedant. 🙃

As for the R’s, I thought maybe it was a broadcasting in English rule or maybe it was requested by the audio production people to pronounce Rs for non-Japanese speakers? You have done lots of broadcast stuff, has anyone ever advised you?

Thank you for replying. I would understand if you would rather ignore! But I would really love to get into this topic with you more, since I find it so interesting (IR theory master’s degree here 🖐). Hence why I glommed on to this aspect of the book.

Loved the book, not sure I loved the premise. Let me explain why and give you a chance to tell me why I am wrong/a pedant 😉 http://chadkohalyk.com/2020/10/27/pure-invention/

I took over 400 photos for our 1 night stay at Huis Ten Bosch, the Dutch-themed amusement park in Nagasaki prefecture. Luckily, I winnowed it down to 46 that you might find interesting to quickly browse through here 📸

I get the patience thing. I tried to do more video editing this year. Bought a GoPro and Drone. But it just took so much time! My ADHD prefers the instant hit and miss of photos. I barely even process them.

We only stayed one night, but it was pretty nice at the Hotel Okura. They have a nice onsen ♨️ for after we got back from trick-or-treating 🎃 at 10:30pm last night. Couldn’t have asked for better weather. 🌞

Good morning from Huis Ten Bosch, the Dutch theme park in Nagasaki Japan. Lovely view from our hotel. The park is kinda out of frame to the right. The buildings straight ahead are private residences. Lots of canals.

Probably why they had the 清瀧 flying around… the horse’s up and down motion kinda matched that. But tbh I think you are right: jerries all the way down.

Just got off the Virtual Reality merry-go-round, which is just a regular merry-go-round, but some of the horses have VR goggles and headphones. You go on a tour of the park, NYC, Mt Fuji, a desert, all with a massive dragon 🐉 flying around you. Got a wee woozy by the end 🥴

For us it is a 20m flight to Omura, then a bus to the park. Not that far, and it is all offset by GoTo.
When in Kyoto we have gone a few times to USJ. But that is because of the closeness and Harry Potter!

In the ep you talk about their negative image, but other than the “standing in the doors” example, you never really got into it. My bad analogue was to Scientology, but after listening I started to think they are more like NOI. Is there a better analogy?

Enjoyed this interview with @mclaughlin_levi. Well spoken and revealed some stuff I didn’t know. Tho it didn’t answer the (admittedly sensationalist) question that laypeople like me have: is it a cult? But maybe I have to buy the book? 😉 https://pca.st/episode/473d5ba0-e56a-48f7-bbf1-3851b8b15fd2
