I am sure many people in the past year or so could not make it on time, so I am grateful, but at the same time I feel as if I should have been faster. But I will always have that sunrise. 🌄
Thank you for your condolences.

Federal Covid authorities expressly told me that it HAD to be a Switch kit to fulfill the completion of isolation. I asked about doing a local test and they told me I am welcome to, but it wouldn’t be enough.

New @SwitchHealthCA home kits arrived today. We quickly collected samples and had the picked up by Purolator.
Still nothing in originals in 48+hrs of searching. I hope they turn up! Sad to have to swab my poor 9yo again😿
(original)

Replying to @lbgurevich
Unfortunately no. The conditions to leave quarantine after travel are 1) complete 14 days of isolation, and 2) obtain a NEG test result from a (sole provider!) @SwitchHealthCA test kit.
48 hrs searching has turned up nothing. We are forced to wait days to do more tests. 🤦♀️ 😮💨

This is a fascinating piece about how “freedom isn’t free” and how we should bring back the declassification process we had until 1983. A must read for (increasing less-) informed Canadians. https://twitter.com/secolbourn/status/1389571495781928966

It has been only the latest ball to be dropped by pretty much every institution/procedure at every step on this return to Canada.
Everything was organized and went smoothly as expected until we left Japan.
I will certainly be writing about this experience. Absurd.

If you are using Switch, don’t wait for them to send results. Follow up with them every day. I should not have waited until my last day of QT to inquire.

Yesterday was our last day of quarantine and today we SHOULD be free, but we are NOT.
@SwitchHealthCA delivered half of our covid test results days ago, but somehow lost the other two test tubes IN THEIR LAB after they arrived on the 18th. 🤦♂️

“Romaji was never the original.” 🎯 🎯 🎯
Rubi! I don’t think I have ever seen an English text that does that. The best I’ve seen is “English translated term” _italicized romaji_ (日本語), but it could be shortened if we used rubi. Typesetter’s nightmare tho

No pre-dawn sky for me tonight. Lost my dad at 7:27, about 3 hours ago. Here is the sunset over Kalamalka Lake, and the sandbar community of Oyama. I am saddend by the loss. He was only 68 years old.

View from hospital window. The northern Okanagan sky goes through a brilliant array of colours in the middle of the night. This is 4am. My fav is 3am when it is all blues with a crisply sparkling North Star hanging alone. Missed it tonight since we actually slept, which is good.

I used to go to Yak & Yeti, the Nepalese place just south of Nishiki one block west of Teramachi. It has changed hands over the years, but has been Nepalese for at least 20 years. It’s got all sorts of fun menu items.
