Grade 8 for us in Canada was dissecting a sheep’s eyeball. They arrived in big 40 gallon buckets of putrid-smelling chemicals. Cutting into a rubbery round object can be difficult, so my friend stabbed it with force and some of the inner juices sprayed into her mouth. 🤢 Trauma.

Day 2 — flattened with flu-like symptoms: aching & shaking, fever. Wife and I are tag-teaming the bed, getting up to take care of kids. Last time we were both sick like this was Cambodia where we tag-teamed the toilet. I proposed to her there, so SOMETHING good came out of it. https://twitter.com/chadkoh/status/1424855552413233172

I enjoy The Chronicles of Japan which is a bit of an irreverent, modern guide through the pre-history and early history of the Kojiki, Nihon Shoki, and various fudōki.

I was car-free until just last month, when we settled in the countryside (due to high property prices and low rental stock pushing up housing in the city) and finally caved. But we did purchase a fully electric vehicle. I hope the first is the last.

We finally moved into our new house just 3 days ago. It has been a long return…

49 days after the soul departs the body it journeys between the worlds of the living and the dead. In Japan “shijukunichi” 四十九日 is an important day in the mourning process. Today my father finished his long journey.
I miss you Dad.

Kitamura Seibō was very accomplished, and lived to over 100! I visited his family home which is a museum full of his art. One bit of his calligraphy really stood out to me as an author https://chadkohalyk.com/2021/04/26/creating-the-image-of-peace-kitamura-seibo/

3 young men sailed their catamaran to #ikijima #壱岐島 from Fukuoka. It took 5 hours and they were exhausted! They spent a month on the island, and took some of the neighbourhood kids on a ride around the port. Felt great skimming just above the waves! 1/3

Your example of the Chamber made me think of Academic groups that could benefit. I am thinking of things like the Association for Asian Studies and things like that. Might be more focussed than using http://Academia.edu. Plus they have money to spend on infra like this 👍
