According to the article they passed between Hokkaido and Honshu and then between mainland Kyushu and its southern islands. UNCLOS allows “innocent passage” but this is really threading the needle. Woulda thought they’d have at least gave the Ministry of Defense a heads up.

Well, I was on Iki, but sounds like they went through on the other side of Tsushima then down by Gotō, and then cut through south of Kagoshima. This is totally in Japanese waters! Crazy!

Only 36 cases in Tokyo and just 232 new cases across the whole country, with 75% 💉 and 67% 💉💉 (65+ are in the 90% for 💉💉)
So happy about this. Starting to feel more confident that we will be able to visit in the spring.

Totally onboard with the antibullying (equally for children & adults) and better hair rules but I was SO thankful for teacher involvement, moral ed, short nails, and “raised by the village.” The education environment in the Canada/US is… well… 😑 280 chars is not enough

Was looking up my fav authors for some writing inspiration and found these short books, one on losing a father & one on fatherhood. Listening as I contemplate the loss of my own father. Really striking how different people react.

Thinking about more cultish directors, I need to add Jim Jarmusch, and of course great Hong Kong directors like Wong Kar Wai and Tsui Hark. Old school King Hu!
All this makes me realize that I need to watch more women directors 😥

Oh yeah I forgot about “He Got Game”! Totally weird but the Public Enemy song for that soundtrack randomly came up on Spotify for me today.
Clockers is good too. I enjoyed BlacKkKlansman.
To Brian’s point about risks, Chiraq has been on my watchlist forever.

Malcolm X was very formative in my teenage life. Not sure if I can attribute that to Spike or Denzel, though. I rewatched Do the Right Thing recently and it still is great. But other than that… ?

Villeneuve for sure. Iñárritu. I will always watch Wes Anderson for that 懐かしい feeling. For those that have passed, David Lean and Jean-Pierre Melville are up there with the greats.
