In the three weeks during our Spring break visit we felt 2. I don’t think I have EVER felt a quake in Kyoto before that. (We lived there for 4 years and have been visiting for 20.)

This little app really adds to my enjoyment of Twitter. I even use it to dig up stuff from my OWN 15 years of tweets! Highly recommended, and thanks to @bmann and TFT Rocks for surfacing it for me https://twitter.com/TwemexApp/status/1518318168468504581

How can technology make Buddhism more accessible? Check out this short video showing how 3D printing replicas of ancient statues makes Buddhist art more tactile, not only for visually impaired people but for everyone. 🪷 Great work in Wakayama! 👏 👏 👏 https://youtu.be/_T1fVQtdNMA

Oh you got some! I remember seeing these prototypes when they were circulating in the accessibility community. A really great example of how accessible design is for everybody. Totally going to get some for myself. 👟

(Also, she only has a gig a month so she would burn it up pretty quick. I wanted just enough for her to use Maps if she is out. What I have to watch out is her leeching wifi from one of her neighbour friends)

Junior high here too. It is a constant battle. Tiktok is a scourge. I charge the thing in my room at night. I also have a 2hr time limit on the wifi. (she reads ebooks on her phone and I don’t want to discourage that).

Added some more shots to my Kyoto Spring Break album. These are Polaroids my 10yo took when we walked up to Shōji-ji, the Temple of Flowers. (There is also a deer from the temizuya at Oharano-jinja) https://twitter.com/chadkoh/status/1513306126053347330

Finished Andy Weir’s excellent “Project Hail Mary” on the plane from Japan. I listened to Artemis the last time I was in Kyoto, so I felt like another Weir book while I was in that strange liminal area of the city. Performance was so good. Happy happy happy!

I took 8 months leave back in 2009. I was working for Apple Japan, so maybe that made it easier? (Plus, I look like the way I do…)
Still, it was remarkable enough that a local feminist magazine asked me for an article.
(btw, it was the BEST thing I could have done. Great XP!)
